INNER CASE : Gilt brass. Diameter 44.5 mm, inner diameter 38.5 mm, inner depth to dial plate base 16 mm.

Maker’s mark DP (rubbed).

Good condition throughout. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut, though the hinge pin is absent.. The bow and stem appear to be original. The high dome crystal has no chips or cracks, and just light surface scratches.

The gilding is complete on the inside but mostly worn through to the brass on the outer surfaces.

Complete with dial false plate which appears to be original.

OUTER CASE : Gilt brass. Diameter 50.5 mm.

No maker’s marks.

In reasonable condition throughout. The catch is complete (though the catch button is worn) and the bezel snaps shut properly.

Both bezel and back rim have rows of small holes where a covering of shell or shagreen would originally have been attached. The gilding to the rims has worn with the brass showing through. The brass has a few bruises around the shoulder of the back.
