Early 19th century gold London verge

A good early 19th century London verge watch, in particularly fine condition.

MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with a very finely engraved and pierced balance cock with diamond endstone. Four round pillars, polished steel balance wheel and undamaged blued screws.

Signed (FISHER, Cockspur Street, LONDON) and numbered (1657).

This movement is in fine condition with no noticeable scratches. It is running well.

DIAL : Gold dial, with engine turned centre and polished gold numerals set on a matt chapter ring. In excellent condition, with no scratches.

Matching blued steel hands.

CASE : Rose gold, with London hallmarks for 18ct., 1818, maker’s mark IM.
The stem, back and inner back are all marked as 18ct. gold. The outer back also shows the London year mark for 1818.

The band has a milled edge, the bow and stem with a rope twist, and the back engine turned with an engraved cartouche to the centre of the back. The back cover springs open when the button on the top of the stem is depressed.

All in very good condition, with hardly any wear to the gold. The engine turning is still crisp. The hinges are fine and the bezel and back cover snap shut nicely. The crystal is perfect.
