Verge escapement

Sold

A fine early London verge pocket watch, in a substantial gold repousse case.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge escapement, with large, beautifully engraved and pierced winged balance cock. Four fine crested tulip pillars, large silver regulator disk and blued screws.

Signed (And. Dunlop, London) and numbered (607).

The movement is in good original condition, and is running well.

DIAL : The white enamel dial is in perfect condition, except for a chip at the winding square. This is an early enamel dial, thought slightly later than the movement.

Good early 18thc blued steel beetle and poker hands.

CASE : 22ct gold, with no hallmarks.
A substantial case in good condition, with excellent quality repousse work.

There a little wear to the high points of the repousse, but no holes. The hinge, catch and catch button are fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is also fine.
