Silver pair cases
A George IV English verge, in heavy silver pair cases, all in exceptionally good condition.
MOVEMENT : Gilded verge movement with beautifully engraved and pierced balance cock, and blued screws. Signed (Fawcitt, Richmond) and numbered (1032). All in fine condition and running well.
DIAL : White enamel, in virtually mint condition with just one tiny scratch at the centre hole. Nice gold hands.
INNER CASE : Silver, hallmarks for Birmingham, 1828. Maker’s mark VR. Excellent condition throughout. The hinge and catch are fine and the bezel closes properly. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.
OUTER CASE : Silver, with matching hallmarks to the inner. Again in excellent condition throughout. The hinge, catch and button (slightly dented) are fine and the case closes correctly.
There are a number of watchmakers named Fawcett (spelling) in Richmond, Yorkshire, at the beginning of the 19th century.
