This is an excellent quality English silver pair cased pocket watch, in fine working condition, with a verge escapement fusee movement, made around 1819 by George Marmaduke Metcalfe in London.

MOVEMENT : Protected by a beautifully engraved and signed brass dustcap (matching serial number to the movement). Signed and numbered (1347) gilded movement in fine condition with stop lever on the outside of the case to start and stop the movement. Beautifully engraved and pierced balance cock with large diamond endstone. It is running well.

DIAL : The cream enamel dial is about 44 mm in diameter. It is in excellent condition with no damage.
Nice matching gold hour and minute hands with steel second hand.INNER CASE : Full hallmarks for London 1819, maker HJ. The hinge is in good condition and the case closes nicely. High dome bull’s eye crystal in good condition with no damage or wear. The bow and pendant are fine without the usual repaired join to the case. The silver is in good condition with no serious dents, bad scratches or excessive wear.

OUTER CASE : Matching marks to the inner. The hinge, catch and button are fine and the case closes nicely. Again with no repairs or damage other than some small light bruises.

This is a very fine early 19th century English watch in rare condition. It has many high quality features, including centre seconds, subsidiary hours/minutes dial, stop lever, cream dial, signed dustcap and diamond endstone.
