Silver Pair Cases

Unusual mid 18thc. silver pair cases.

INNER CASE : Silver. Diameter 42.5 mm, inner diameter 36.5 mm, inner depth to dial plate base 15 mm.

Rubbed maker’s mark and serial no. 5496

In reasonable condition throughout, with the bezel snapping shut correctly.
The stem has been reattached and there is some compression around the band. There are some small dents around the band.

The high dome bull’s eye crystal has no chips but is scratched around the flat centre.

OUTER CASE : Silver. Diameter 55 mm.

No silver marks or maker’s mark. The bezel and back are both engraved and shaped.

In average conditions and requires some repair. The hinge is good, but the case spring is broken and the catch button absent. There is a split to the back from the shoulder, and quite even wear to the engraving.
