This is a very large outer case, probably a third protective case for an early 18th century gold pair cased watch.
Diameter 64 mm, inner bezel diameter 54 mm, inner depth to bezel 30 mm.
Gilt brass base, with shagreen covering and gilt rims, wire and pins.
Very good unrestored condition. The shagreen has a little wear to the centre of the back, and a couple of sections missing from the bezel. Excellent colour.
The decorative twisted wire on the rims is loose in places, but complete (one holding pin missing).
The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut and stays closed.
