Gilt Watch Chatelaine

A particularly large gilt brass chatelaine, with 2 fine stone set keys.

Consisting of four highly decorative gilt brass panels, joined by ornate gilt chains, terminating in three gilt hooks. On the outside are two more longer chains, each terminated with a hook.
The panels show masks and animals among scrolls and foliage. There is a large gilt suspension hook to the back.

There are two fine gilt keys attached to the chain, each set with polished stones. One is inset with a cornelian, and the other with a pink quartz (foil backed) on one side and a white agate on the other.

The gilding shows very little wear, except for the links joining the panels which are tarnished. The suspension hook has been broken at the bend and repaired by the insertion of a brass plate within the bend.

The keys are in very good condition, with the stones undamaged and just some wear to the gilding on the smaller key.
