A very fine mid 18th century London verge watch, in gold pair cases.
MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock, diamond endstone, four square baluster pillars and silver regulator disk. Blued screws.
Signed “D. Cambro, London” and numbered 2239.
Excellent condition, and running well.
DIAL : A white enamel dial, in excellent condition with just some light scratches.
Fine blued steel beetle and poker hands.
INNER CASE : 22ct gold, with hallmarks for London, 1759, maker’s mark H?.
In very good condition. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly.
The high dome crystal has a few small scratches.
OUTER CASE : Gold pair case, nicely engraved to the back with a monogram RP below a family crest. Unmarked but tests as high carat gold
Again in very good condition. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut. There is a small dent to the catch button.
D. Cambro is listed in London in 1751.
