Stock No. 1961
Silver hunter case, 58 mm
Rack lever escapement
A Liverpool rack lever, in a heavy full hunter silver case.
MOVEMENT : Gilded rack lever fusee movement, with clean blued screws and diamond endstone. The movement would have originally been protected by a removable gilt brass dustcap but this is now absent.
Signed “Robt. Roskell, LIVERPOOL” and numbered (23806).
All in good original condition, and running well.
DIAL : White enamel. Good condition with just a few very light surface scratches. Fine gold hands.
CASE : A large and heavy silver full hunter case with hallmarks for Chester, 1815, maker EJ and the serial movement number 23806. The front cover is sprung and flips open when the button on the stem is pressed
Good condition though with a few small bruises towards the bottom of the front cover. Both covers snap shut nicely and the crystal is fine. The large gold hinge functions well, but there is some wear to one hinge sleeve of the front cover.
Robert Roskell is listed in Liverpool and London between 1798 and 1830.
