Gold & agate case, 32 mm
Cylinder escapement, quarter dumb repeating movement

Sold

A very unusual and excellent quality rose gold cylinder dumb repeater, with an unusual movement, in a beautiful gold and agate cast. The repeat movement is not working correctly.

MOVEMENT : Gilded movement with cylinder escapement. Very unusual balance bridge and regulator. The mainspring setup is mounted on the top plate.

The movement is unsigned.

The watch movement is running well, but the repeat is not working.
This repeat always strikes for 8 hours but no quarters. So there are some broken or missing parts within the repeating mechanism (see photo under dial).

DIAL : White enamel dial.

In reasonable condition, though with some small chips and hairlines around the edge, the largest at 6.

Nice 18th century gold hands.

CASE : This is a wonderful and very unusual rose gold case with polished agate to the back. The gold is high carat gold, with no maker’s mark, but very small French gold marks to the stem. The gold catch button is set with a small clear gem stone.

All in excellent condition. The gold and agate are both perfect with no damage or signs of wear, The high dome crystal is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly.
