London, 1796
Silver and gilt pair cases, 58.5 mm
Verge escapement

Sold

A good quality verge watch, in silver gilt and gilt brass pair cases.

MOVEMENT : A fine quality gilt fusee movement, with verge escapement, profusely pierced and engraved balance cock, clean blued screws, four round baluster pillars, and large silver regulator disk.

Signed W. Bluck and numbered 2022.

Running well and all in good condition.

The movement is protected by a nicely engraved removable gilt dustcap.

DIAL : A good white enamel dial. In very good condition, with just some very light surface scratches.

Fine matching gold ‘arrowhead’ hands.

INNER CASE : Silver gilt, with London hallmarks for 1796, maker I?I.

In reasonable condition, though with a few light bruises, and some scratches where the silver is showing through. The hinge is ok but shows signs of an old repair.  The bezel snaps shut, though gapes a little on one side (probably as a result of the repair).

The crystal has a few light scratches. The bow and stem are fine.

OUTER CASE : A gilt outer case, with maker’s mark to the inside centre of the back.

In good condition, with just a little wear to the gilding at the centre of the back. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut correctly. The catch button is dented.
