A mid 18thc. Durham verge in silver pair cases, all in particularly good condition.

MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with very well engraved and pierced balance cock. Small silver regulator disk and four square baluster pillars.

Signed Thos.Beckett, DURHAM.

In very good condition throughout and running well.

DIAL : Very fine silver champleve dial, with signed central disk .

In excellent condition throughout. Nice 18thc. blued steel beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : Silver, with London hallmarks for 1752, and maker’s mark TB.

In excellent condition throughout. The hinge is good and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome crystal is fine..

OUTER CASE : Silver, with no marks.

In very good condition throughout. The hinge, catch button and catch are fine and the case closes correctly.

Thomas Beckett, born in 1723, worked in Durham from before 1749 until his death in 1803.

The case maker is probably Thomas Baskerville.
