Mid 18thc. London pair cases watch, with unusual glazed movement.

MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with glazed, engraved and pierced winged balance cock. Engraved silver and glazed removable dust ring.

Signed Ben Smith, Putney.

In good condition, with the 3 curved glass panels and glass disk to the balance cock undamaged. Running well.

DIAL : Fine silver champleve dial, with signed central disk (Smith).

In good condition throughout. Black steel beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : Silver, with rubbed hallmarks for London, 1744, but the maker’s mark indecipherable.

In very good condition throughout. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is also fine.

OUTER CASE : Silver, with no visible hallmarks or maker’s mark.

The hinge, catch and catch button are fine and the case closes correctly. There are some very light bruises to the centre of the back, but generally in good condition.
