J. Millington
London, 1758
Silver pair cases, 50 mm.
Verge escapement
Sold
MOVEMENT : Gilded verge fusee movement, with “lace edge” balance cock and unusual engraving. It is signed and numbered (10188). Nice original condition and running well.
DIAL : The white enamel dial is in good condition with just a few small chips around the edge and a repair on the edge at 6. Good original 18th century hands.
INNER CASE : Silver hallmarks for London, 1758, maker SP. Very good overall condition with no repairs or damage. The high dome crystal has a couple of short scratches but no chips. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely.
OUTER CASE : Matching silver hallmarks to the inner. The hinge is fine but the button is missing from the catch and the catch spring is a poor replacement. The silver is in very good condition.
John Millington is listed in London from before 1756 until 1772.
