A late 18th century English verge watch, in a very attractive enamel pair case.

MOVEMENT : Gilt fusee movement, with verge escapement, engraved and pierced balance cock showing mask at the neck. Blues screws, four round baluster pillars and silver regulator disk.

Running well, and in good condition.

Signed “Robt. Markham, London” and numbered (355).

DIAL : An excellent white enamel dial, in very good condition with just a some light surface scratches.

Good 18th century gold beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : Gilt, with maker’s mark IH.

In excellent condition throughout, with just a little wear to the gilding on the pendant. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut. The high dome crystal is good.

OUTER CASE : Gilt & enamel pair case. Again with maker’s mark IH.

In excellent condition again, with just some wear to the gilding on the rims and catch button.
The hinge, catch button and catch are complete and the case snaps shut correctly.

The enamel has been re laquered, and probably restored, but beautifully done.
