A very smart gold and shagreen cylindrical box case with a very small verge movement inset.
MOVEMENT : A tiny gilt movement with verge escapement, finely pierced and engraved balance bridge, round pillars and glazed back cover. The top plate is only 19.2 mms. in diameter.
Signed “Leonard LaPierre, a Vienne” and numbered 247.
In good condition, with some light scuffs and scratches to the plates. Running well (gaining 3 or 4 minutes per hour).
DIAL : White enamel dial.
In reasonable condition, with some damage around the winding aperture and a repair on the edge near 7.
Blued steel hands.
CASE : A beautiful shagreen covered gold case, formed as a cylinder with the watch movement inset into the gold, engine turned hinged top.
In very good condition.
The crystal has some rubbing and small chips around the bezel.
PROVENANCE : From the Masterworks of Time Collection.
This was the very prestigious collection of German billionaire Erivan Haub, who spent 50 years collecting the finest watches from all periods. He died in 2018.
