An early 19th century London verge watch, in a good silver gilt case.
MOVEMENT : Gilt fusee movement, with verge escapement, well engraved and pierced balance cock, four round baluster pillars, and large silver regulator disk. Blues screws.
Running well, and in good condition.
Signed “J. Carter, London” and dated (AD 1810).
DIAL : A cream/white enamel dial, in very good condition. Gilt brass hands.
CASE : Gilded silver, with hallmarks for London, 1810 and maker’s mark WL.
The front cover is sprung, so lifts automatically as the button on the stem is pressed.
In good condition, with just a little wear to the gilding in places, light scratches, and a very slight dent to the back cover. The hinges are complete and the cover closes correctly.
The case maker is probably William Lewis of Clerkenwell, London.
