A late 18th century French silver alarm watch.
MOVEMENT : Gilded movement with round pillars, large silver regulator disk, and nicely pierced and engraved balance bridge. Verge escapement.
The movement is signed (Ratel, A PARIS) and numbered (316).
All in very good condition and running well. The alarm is driven by a second mainspring, and also functions correctly, striking the steel bell fixed to the inside of the back.
DIAL : A white enamel dial, with inner chapter for setting the alarm. The top winding aperture is for winding the alarm, the right hand aperture for setting the alarm and the lower for winding the watch.
In good condition, though with some hairlines on the edge at 1 and between 8 and 10.
Nice Breguet style blued steel hands.
CASE : Silver case with French silver marks on the stem and back cover.
All in good condition, with just a little wear to the engine turning on the back.
The high dome crystal is good, with just one short scratch.
