A late 18th century verge watch, in gold repousse pair cases.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge escapement, with engraved and pierced balance bridge. Four square pillars, silver regulator disk and blued screws.
Signed (C.Halifax, London) and numbered (2030).

The movement is in reasonable original condition, with some scratches to the screws and around the pillar tops. It is running well.

DIAL : The white enamel dial is in excellent condition, with just a few very light scratches. No repairs or hairlines.

Gold coloured fancy hands.

INNER CASE : 22ct gold, hallmarked for London, 1783, maker’s mark RP.

In good condition. There are some light bruises to the band and back. The stem has been reattached, but the stem and bow are in good condition.
The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome crystal is also fine.

OUTER CASE : A fine quality 22ct gold pair case with repousse decoration showing a classical scene.

In good condition with just a little wear to the high points of the repousse work. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut, though the catch button is dented and the catch a little worn.

There is a C. Halifax, listed in London in 1783.
