A mid 18th century verge, in very good overall condition.

MOVEMENT : Gilded movement with verge escapement, the balance cock finely engraved and pierced with foliage, and with a vase to the neck. Silver regulator disk , blued steel screws, and four round pillars.

Signed (John Chapman, Sheerness) and numbered (202).

The movement is in very good condition and is running well.

DIAL : A fine white enamel dial.

In excellent condition.

Later steel beetle & poker hands.

INNER CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for London, 1774, and maker’s mark TP.

Good condition throughout, though the stem has been reattached.

The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome crystal is good.

OUTER CASE : A silver pair case with silver and maker’s marks matching the inner.

In very good overall condition. The catch, catch button and hinge are all fine and the bezel snaps shut.
