A late 18th century verge, in good overall condition.

MOVEMENT : Gilded movement with verge escapement, the balance cock finely engraved and pierced with foliage, and with a mask to the neck. Silver regulator disk and four round pillars.

Signed (Jos. Gatward, Tonbridge and numbered (86).

The movement is in very good condition and is running well.

DIAL : A fine white enamel dial.

In excellent condition, with just a few surface scrathes.
Nice matching blued steel beetle & poker hands.

INNER CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for London, 1797, and maker’s mark HI.

Good condition throughout, though with a little wear at the opening catch, and the stem could be a replacement.
The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The bull’s eye high dome crystal is perfect.

OUTER CASE : A silver pair case with silver and maker’s marks matching the inner.

In very good overall condition. The catch, catch button and hinge are all fine and the bezel snaps shut. Just a small dent to the catch button.
