Cylinder escapement, quarter repeating

Sold

This is a large and impressive French quarter repeating watch, with cylinder escapement, in a rose gold case, with silver guilloche dial.

MOVEMENT : A gilt movement with cylinder escapement, and quarter repeating with two polished steel hammers striking two steel gongs.

The quarter repeating function is activated by pressing in the stem, striking once for each hour and then trice for each quarter.

The movement is in good condition, and is running well. The repeat function is also working correctly with a nice clear chime.

DIAL : Silver dial in good condition, with just a few small marks and light scratches. Blued steel hands.

CASE : The rose gold case has engine turning to the back, the bezel and the edge of the band. Central empty cartouche to the centre of the back cover. The inner gilt cuvette is unsigned. The stem and inner back are stamped with French gold marks. The cover of the case is stamped with a serial number (rubbed).

The case is in good condition, but with wear to the engine turning on the edges of the back. A couple of small bruises to the back and a scratch to the gilt cuvette.
The small slider used to lock the repeat is present but not functioning. All hinges are fine and the bezel, back cover and cuvette all close correctly. Good crystal.
