Irish silver pair cased verge by Dalrymple, Dublin

Stock No. 1431

Dalrymple
Dublin, 1833
Silver pair cases, 58 mm
Verge escapement

Sold

A large Irish verge watch, in silver pair cases.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge escapement, with engraved and pierced balance cock. Four round pillars and blued screws.
Signed (Dalyrumple, DUBLIN) and numbered (7099). Presumably a misspelling or variation on Dalrymple.

The movement is in good original condition and is running well.

DIAL : The fine cream enamel dial is in excellent condition, with just a few tiny marks.

Blued steel hands.

INNER CASE : Silver, hallmarked for London, 1833, maker’s mark JW.

In very good condition, except for a small hole on the left hand side of the hinge. The hinge itself is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The crystal has some scratches towards the centre but no chips.

OUTER CASE : Silver pair case with marks matching the inner.

In good condition except for the hinge pin which is broken. The bezel snaps and holds shut firmly and the broken pin is only apparent when the case is open, and the bezel separates just slightly from the case.
