A fine quality verge movement, in exceptional condition, in a heavy silver hunter case.
MOVEMENT : A fine quality verge movement, signed ‘Corsan, Wapping’, and numbered (298). With finely engraved balance cock, diamond endstone and blued screws.
The lever on the side of the case is a stopwatch feature, which stops and restarts the movement.
All in very good condition and running well.
The movement is protected by a gilt brass dustcap.
DIAL : White enamel, with subsidiary seconds dial. In perfect condition except for one very light hairline running from the edge at 3 towards 12.
CASE : Heavy silver, full hunter, case with hallmarks for London, 1833, maker SS. Some wear throughout, especially to the engine turned band and crown, but still in good overall condition. The hinges are fine and both covers snap shut correctly. The crystal is fine.
The inside of the back cover is nicely engraved with a former owner’s name “Willm. J. Reed”.
