Guillemin
Paris, c1765
Gold repousse case, 47 mm.
Verge movement

Sold

A fine mid 18th century Paris watch, with a fine movement, in a wonderful gold repousse case.

MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with finely engraved and pierced balance bridge, and large silver regulator disk. Signed ‘Guillemin, Paris’. Four square pillars. All in very good original condition and running well.

DIAL : White enamel in reasonable condition. There is a hairline on the edge at 10, some small chips around the winding aperture and a substantial repair around the edge from 5 to 7 (could be improved). Very nice fancy gilt hands.

CASE : Gold repousse, with French gold marks on the stem and inside of the back. Also rubbed maker’s mark (tfG?) on the bezel and rim.. The fine repousse work is of a naturalised shell form. All in excellent condition. The hinge, catch and catch button are all fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely.

Good high dome crystal.
