Sold
MOVEMENT : Gilded verge fusee movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock. Engraved ‘Calidonia’ and numbered (13571). All in good original and running well.
The balance cock is beautifully engraved with vine leaves and a bunch of grapes.
DIAL : White enamel, in very good condition with just a few light surface scratches.
INNER CASE : Silver, hallmarked for Birmingham, 1815. Maker’s mark SP. Good condition with just a couple of bruises around the edge. The high dome crystal is good. The hinge and catch are fine and the case closes properly.
OUTER CASE : Silver, with matching hallmarks to the inner. In very good condition throughout except that the catch button and catch spring are absent. The hinge is fine.
This appears to be an English watch although the name ‘Calidonia’ is a mystery.
