MOVEMENT : Signed (Martineau, London) gilt brass verge movement, with four square pillars, engraved balance cock and plate, ruby coloured endstone and silver regulator disc. Excellent condition with the gilding still bright, and running well.
DIAL : Good silver champleve dial, signed in the centre. In excellent condition, with no repairs and not over polished. There is one of the gilt half hour markers missing (between 4 and 5). Fancy gilt hands.
INNER CASE : Silver, worn marks. Very good condition throughout. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely.
OUTER CASE : Silver, no hallmarks. Excellent condition throughout. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely.
Although signed as a London maker, this watch (with case) was probably made in France or Switzerland around 1740.
