Nice early verge example by this prestigeous London maker, who later went on to develop the lever movement.

MOVEMENT : Signed and numbered (758) gilt brass verge movement, with four square pillars, very well engraved and pierced balance cock and engraved plate, and silver regulator disc. Nice blued screws. Very good condition and running well.

DIAL : 35 mm. Fine classic mid 18th century English white enamel dial. Very good condition with no repairs, a tiny chip on the edge at 6 and some surface scratches. Very nice quality gilt hands.

CASE : 47.2 mm. Gilt brass. Maker JA. Good condition throughout with both hinges and catches fine. The gilding has been worn from the catch button and the winding hole cover, but otherwise intact. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.

Josiah Emery was born in Geneva in 1725 and started working in London from 1745 until his death in 1797.
