An excellent example of a mid 18th century English verge.

MOVEMENT : Fully signed (Wm. Beavis, London and numbered 247). Gilded verge movement with engraved and pierced balance cock. Very unusual pillars. Excellent original condition, with gilding still bright, and running well.

DIAL : 34.5 mm, white enamel. One tiny flake on the edge at 3 but otherwise perfect. Nice original 18th century steel beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : 41.3 mm. London hallmarks for 1750, maker CC. In fine condition throughout. The high dome crystal is perfect.

OUTER CASE : 49.75 mm. Matching hallmarks to the inner. Again, in excellent condition throughout. The hinge, catch and catch button are fine and the catch snaps shut nicely.

William Beavis is listed in London from 1745 until at least 1761.
