MOVEMENT : Fully signed (Wm. West, London) and numbered (104). Wonderful early English verge movement in fine original condition and running well. The silver balance cock is beautifully engraved and pierced.

DIAL : 41.5 mm. White enamel. |Probably a mid 18th century replacement. Very fine condition with just a couple of flakes around the centre aperture and a few around the edge at 3 and 9. Some light surface scratches. Good original 18th century steel beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : 50 mm. Silver gilt. Maker’s mark RB. IW. Very fine condition with no repairs or damage and just a very small amount of wear to the gilding where the silver shows through. High dome bull’s eye crystal in fine condition. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut nicely.

OUTER CASE : 56.75 mm. Matching mark to the inner. Again in excellent condition. The hinge and catch are fine and the gilding complete except wear to the rims, the catch button and middle of the back where the silver shows through.
