This is an unusual little English gilt cased pocket watch, in good condition, with a miniature verge escapement fusee movement, and gilt dial, made around 1780 by George Goodman of London.
MOVEMENT : Nicely gilded movement in good, clean condition. Beautifully engraved and pierced balance cock and square pillars. Runs very well.
DIAL : The beautiful little gilded dial is only about 28 mm in diameter. It is in very good condition with just one light scratch between 1 and 2.
Matching blued steel hands.
CASE : The gilt on brass case is in good condition. The bow and pendant are fine without the usual repaired join to the case. The gilding is in good condition with just some wear to the back. The inside of the case is stamped with the maker’s mark WR. The catches and high dome crystal are fine. The hinges are a little worn but still intact and the case closes nicely.
This is a really charming little watch, of very unusual size and in good working condition.
