A nice quality movement, by an excellent London maker, with cylinder escapement.

MOVEMENT : Gilt movement with cylinder escapement. Plain balance cock, jewel endstone, heavy polished steel balance wheel and blued screws. Four round pillars. The movement is protected by a removable gilt dustcap.

Signed Wm. Anthony, LONDON and numbered 5699.

In good condition and running well.

DIAL : A white enamel dial, with subsidiary seconds.

In reasonable condition, with a small repair on the edge at 12 and light hairlines running from the centre towards 10, 3 and 6. Another shorter hairline across the edge at 8.

Gilt hands with blued steel seconds.

CASE : Silver, with very rubbed London hallmarks.

In good condition throughout. Both bezel and back cover snap shut correctly. The crystal is a little scratched.

William Anthony is listed at Red Lion Street, Clerkenwell, London. He made many very ornate watches for the Chinese market, and died in 1844.
