A fine quality Scottish movement, with duplex escapement.

MOVEMENT : Gilt movement, the duplex escapement with ruby roller. Engraved balance cock, jewel endstone, heavy bi metal compensated balance wheel (with balance screws), and blued screws. Four round pillars.

Signed Robert Bryson, ERDINBURGH and numbered 1019.

In excellent condition and running well.

The movement is protected by a removable gilt dustcap, signed and numbered as the movement.

DIAL : A white enamel dial, with subsidiary seconds.

In good condition though with some light hairlines, one from the centre towards 12 and three more from the subsidiary centre.

Gilt hands in nice condition.

CASE : Silver, with London hallmarks for 1825 and maker’s mark FM.

In good condition throughout. The hinges are fine and the bezel and back snap shut correctly. The back shows engine turned engraving which is evenly worn. The crystal is good.

Robert Bryson is listed in Edinburgh from 1810. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and died in 1852.

The case maker is probably Frederick Melvill of Clerkenwell, London.
