An early 19th century watch with a verge escapement, in a large and heavy silver full hunter case.

MOVEMENT : Gilt fusee movement, with verge escapement, engraved and pierced bell shaped balance cock, Bosley regulator, four round pillars, and blued steel screws.

Signed Jas. Brown, Winchester and numbered 1690.

In good condition throughout and running well.

DIAL : White enamel dial.

In good condition, but with one repair on the edge at 6 and a tiny repair on the edge at 3.

CASE : A heavy, silver, full hunter, case.

Hallmarked for London, 1808, maker’s mark rubbed.

In good condition throughout. The hinges are all fine, and the cover and the bezel snap shut correctly. The cover is sprung so flips open when the button on the stem is depressed. The crystal is good.

There is a James Brown listed in Winchester in 1830.
