18thc.  case for striking movement

Dimensions :

Exterior diameter : 54 mm.
Interior diameter at opening : 43.2mm.
Interior diameter at hinge : 48 mm.
Interior depth to opening : 26.5 mm.
Interior depth to hinge : 18.2 mm.

This is a gilded white metal case, with pierced repousse work to the back and bezel.
There is a screw fitting to the inside of the back, to attach a bell. So this case was for a striking watch.

The gilding is slightly rubbed in places, but overall the metal work is in good condition. The hinge is good but the catch spring has broken and the catch button absent.
