18thc.  very ornate outer case

Dimensions :

Exterior diameter : 52 mm.
Interior diameter at opening : 40 mm.
Interior diameter at hinge : 45 mm.
Interior depth to opening : 19.5 mm.
Interior depth to hinge : 12 mm.

This is a gilt brass case, with repousse work to the back and bezel, profusely decorated with crystals (paste and possibly some semi precious stones).

The case is beautifully made with the gems set into small gilt metal panels which are then attached to the outer surface by pins inside the case.

In very good condition. The hinge, catch and catch button (white gem) are all good, and the case snaps shut correctly.
