Silver pair cases with silver champleve dial

Price £500

Silver pair cases, with a fine dial.

Dimensions :
Outer exterior diameter : 49.3 mm.
Inner interior diameter at hinge : 36.3 mm.
Inner interior depth to inner rim : 15.4 mm.

DIAL : Silver champleve dial with false plate. Both appear to be original to the inner case.

The dial is unsigned and is in very good condition.

INNER CASE : Silver, hallmarked for London, 1742? (rubbed), maker’s mark PG under a star. The mark is probably for Peter Goujon (who worked at The Star, Theobald’s Road, London).

Good condition. The hinge is good and the case snaps shut nicely. The stem is slightly depressed into the case.

The high dome bull’s eye crystal has some scratches but no chips.

OUTER CASE : Silver, hallmarked for London, 1777, maker’s mark BN IT. The mark is for Bartholomew Need and John Taylor.

In quite good condition throughout, and a good fit for the earlier inner case. The hinge and catch are complete and the bezel snaps shut. The catch button has worn down.
