Gilt brass base, with silver rims and pins, and tortoiseshell covering.
In unrestored condition.
The catch is absent, and the catch button worn down. The hinge is good. There is a small hole in the bezel, at the hinge.
The shell covering is a wonderful colour, with bright red edges between the bright green and black. The shell on the back is complete, with just one short crack from the neck. The shell on the front is missing a section about 3 cm. long at the hinge.
About half of the silver pins are missing from the bezel, and more from the back.
