Gilt & enamel chatelaine
Continental, late 18th century
11 cm.

Sold

A late 18th century gilt metal single suspension chatelaine, with an inset painted enamel/shell panel showing a single figure.

French or Swiss, probably around 1780.

The gilt suspension chain is complete, terminated with a hook.  A combination of silver and gilt over brass, with 4 cherubs surrounding the panel.

The enamel is in quite good condition, though with 3 chips around the edge.  The panel is backed with mother of pearl, which is complete but with 2 cracks.

The gilt metal shows even wear to the gilding, but no damage or pieces missing.
