A mid 19thc. verge watch, with a nicely painted polychrome dial showing a farmer ploughing with two horses in front of a farmhouse.
MOVEMENT : This is a gilt verge movement, with an engraved and pierced balance cock. Four round pillars, Bosley type regulator.
All in good condition though with scratches around the pillar tops. Running well.
Signed Barcham, TONBRIDGE and numbered 17179.
DIAL : A polychrome enamel dial, with farmer and horses ploughing a field with a farmhouse in the background.
In very good condition, with no cracks or repairs, though a few light scratches and nibbles around the edge.
Brass hands.
INNER CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for London, 1848, maker’s mark HW, and case serial number 26072.
In good condition, with just one light bruise to the back, just below the stem. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The high dome bull’s eye crystal has light scratches but no chips.
OUTER CASE : A silver pair case, with matching hallmarks and maker’s mark to the inner.
The silver is in good condition, with just some light scratches. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut correctly. The catch button has worn down.
