Silver gilt & enamel case 95 mm. x 35 mm. x 25mm.
Verge escapement

Sold

A beautiful Austrian ‘form’ watch, with the silver gilt and guilloche in the form of a viola.

MOVEMENT : A gilt movement with a verge escapement, and engraved and pierced balance bridge.

Signed Dominique Asenbauer?, Vienna.

In poor condition. The balance staff has broken, the fusee chain is missing, a screw from the balance cock is missing, and the dial has chips to the edge. The wheel train appears to be complete.

DIAL : A white enamel dial, in average condition, with no repairs but chips around the edge.

Blued steel Breguet type hands.

CASE : This is a wonderful silver gilt ‘form’ case, decorated with red coloured guilloche enamel, with Continental hallmarks to the insides of the case, the cover, and the back of the fingerboard.

On the inside, just above the watch movement, is a small removable lid to a vinagrette.

This case is in excellent condition, with no damage or restoration, and just sone very light scratches to the enamel and some tarnishing to the gilded silver. The hinge is good and the cover opens and snaps shut nicly.

Although the watch movement is from Vienna, the case could be from France or Switzerland.
