A small gold pair cased watch with an unusual enamel plaque.
MOVEMENT : A gilt verge movement, with four round pillars, and finely pierced and engraved balance cock.
Signed Vauchez A Paris.
The movement is in good original condition, and is running well.
DIAL : Signed white enamel.
In reasonable condition with no restoration but a chip on the edge at 5 and another at the winding aperture.
Crystal set fancy silver hands, with just one crystal missing.
INNER CASE : Gold (tests at about 15 ct.), with no maker’s mark.
Crystal set bezel, with engraving to the bezel and back, and an unusual painted enamel plaque to the back.
The gold is in good condition, with very little wear.
The crystal set bezel has one crystal missing. The crystals are set into silver which has a dark tarnish.
The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The very high dome crystal is heavily scratched and pitted.
The enamel plaque on the back is beautifully painted with a lady and gentleman The enamel is in reasonable condition with no repairs but scratches around the lower part of the lady’s face and her neck.
OUTER CASE : Gilt brass, with glazed exhibition back.
The metal is in reasonable condition, though much of the gilding has worn through to the brass. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.
Vauchez is listed in Paris between about 1770 and 1830.
