Price £2600

A large and early London verge, in good overall condition.

MOVEMENT : A gilded movement with four Egyptian pillars and a large silver regulator disk. The pierced and engraved winged balance cock is particularly finely engraved with two bird above foliage and scrolls with a shell to the neck.

The movement is signed Joshua Talbey, London.

All in very good condition, except for the ornamental bracket between the plates (holding the stopwork lever) where one side of the bracket is missing.
Running well.

DIAL : A fine signed silver champleve dial, in very good condition.
The central disk is signed Talbey, London.

Very fine early blued steel beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : A deep silver case, with no hallmarks (too early) or maker’s mark.

All in good condition except around the stem, which has been reattached and strengthened for the inside. There is a short crack to the case on the outside near the stem but the repair is strong. The silver suspension ring is a replacement.

The high dome bull’s eye crystal is good, with just a few small chips around the edge which are mostly hidden by the bezel. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely.

OUTER CASE : Again no silver or maker’s marks. Good large square hinge.

In very good condition. The catch, catch button and hinge are fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely.

Joshua Talbay is listed in London in 1710.
