A large and fine quality early London verge, in very nice overall condition.

MOVEMENT : A gilded movement with four beautifully crested Egyptian pillars, and large silver regulator disk. The pierced and engraved winged balance cock is decorated with two masks within foliage.

The movement is signed WILL WESTBROOK, and numbered 176.

All in good condition, and running well.

DIAL : A signed silver champleve dial, in very good condition.
The centre disk, signed as the movement, has masks to the top and bottom.

Very fine early blued steel beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : A good, deep silver case, with no hallmarks (too early), but maker’s mark EE (Gothic script).

All in very good condition, though the stem and bow are later replacements and there is solder showing, especially on the inside, where the pendant has been attached.

The high dome crystal is good. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut.

OUTER CASE : No visible marks.

William Westbrook is listed in London during the early 18th century.

The case maker is possibly Edward East (II).
