A mid 19thc. verge watch, with a nicely painted polychrome dial showing a rider with a steam train in the background.

MOVEMENT : This is a gilt verge movement, with an engraved and pierced balance cock. Four round pillars, Bosley type regulator and blued steel screws.

All in good condition and running well.

Signed S.Wherly, BISHOPS AUCKLAND and numbered 127.

DIAL : A polychrome enamel dial, with a horse and rider, riding through countryside with a steam train approaching a viaduct in the background.

Matching brass hands.

In good condition, with just a light hairline from the edge at 9 towards the chapter ring, and a short crack to the left of the 12 numeral. No repairs.

INNER CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for Birmingham 1844.

In very good condition. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is good.

OUTER CASE : Silver, with matching hallmark to the inner.

The silver is in very good condition. The hinge, catch button and catch are fine and the case snaps shut correctly.
