A mid 19thc. verge watch, with a nicely painted polychrome dial showing farmers ploughing with horses.
MOVEMENT : This is a gilt verge movement, with an engraved and pierced balance cock. Four round pillars, Bosley type regulator and blued steel screws.
All in good condition and running well.
Signed Jno. Waddell, BURWASH and numbered 25576.
DIAL : A polychrome enamel dial, with farmers and horses ploughing a field with a village in the background.
In very good condition, with no cracks or repairs.
Matching gilt brass hands.
INNER CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for London, 1849, maker’s mark JBWW, and movement serial number 25576.
In good condition. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is good though with some scratches but no chips.
OUTER CASE : A heavy silver pair case, with matching hallmarks and maker’s mark to the inner. Engraved on the back with an owner’s name :

The silver is in very good condition. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut correctly. There is wear to the catch button.
