A mid 18th century London pocket watch, in gold pair cases.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge escapement, with engraved and pierced balance cock with a mask at the neck. Four square baluster pillars, silver regulator disk, diamond endstone and blued steel screws.

Signed J. Masterman & Co., London.

The movement is protected by a removable gilt dustcap, signed as the movement.

All in good condition, and running well.

DIAL : A white enamel dial.

In reasonable condition, with no chips or hairlines, but scratches mainly towards the centre and a repair at the centre hole..

Good 18th century gold beetle and poker hands.

INNER CASE : 22ct. gold, with hallmarks for London, 1764. Maker’s mark IW.
In quite good condition but with some light bruises and the usual compression around the band.

The fine bow and stem (also tested as gold) appear to be original.

The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is lightly scratched but good..

OUTER CASE : Gold, with hallmarks matching the inner

In good condition, with just 2 tiny dents on the back and 3 on the bezel.. The catch and hinge are fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The catch button has worn down.
