Price £1350

A Swiss verge in a gilt case, with particularly fine enamel decoration.

MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance bridge, large silvered regulator disk and four round pillars.

Signed Mauris A Geneve

In good condition and running well.

DIAL : A signed white enamel dial, in perfect condition except for some damage around the winding aperture.

White metal hands.

CASE : An attractive gilt case, with enamel decoration to the back and a crystal set bezel to the front. The particularly fine enamel plaque on the back shows a young couple in a pastoral scene, all within a finely decorated border with unusual silhouette portraits to left and right.

The metalwork is all in good condition, though with most of the gilding worn from the outer surfaces. The hinges and catch are fine and the bezel snaps shut. The crystal set bezel is complete with no crystals missing.

The enamel on the back is in excellent original condition, with no chips or restoration. Just a couple of light scratches.

The high dome crystal is fine.

Henri Mauris is recorded as working in Geneva between around 1775 and about 1810.
