Price £365

A mid 19th century English verge watch, in silver half hunter pair cases.

MOVEMENT : Gilt fusee movement, with verge escapement, engraved and pierced balance cock, four round pillars, and Bosley type regulator .

Running well, and in good condition, with just a very few light scratches to the top plate.

Unsigned but numbered (1318).

DIAL : A white half hunter enamel dial, in very nice condition. No repairs and just one small chip on the edge at 12, a short hairline across the edge at 10, and a scratch to the numeral XI.

Excellent half hunter gilt (maybe gold) hands, with 2 indicators on each hand. These are rare to find still intact.

INNER CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for Birmingham, 1828, maker’s mark JH.

In good condition. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The small half hunter glass shows scratches, but appears to be original. The bow and stem are fine. Just one short shallow dent on the edge of the back at 2.

OUTER CASE : Silver pair case. Hallmarks matching the inner.

In good condition. The hinge is fine, but the steel catch is incomplete, missing the tip. The case closes but doesn’t snap shut. Just a slight dent to the catch button.
